Sassy News
Vineyard and Winery News, April 2015
Welcome to "new" and "old" supporters of Sassy Wines.
2015 has been a great vintage for Sassy Wines. We have the winery up to the gunnels which fantastic wines. The whites are to be released in September 2015 and this will include our first Pinot Noir Rose. All other stocks are to be replenished, which will be a relief as supplies are running low, with the Pinot Gris sold out and two others down to the last 10 dozen!
The cellar door has proved to be a great success, and Sassy has just completed it's first FOOD WEEK Orange "Event" on the cellar door deck. An antipasto platter was combined with a tasting of 4 different Arneis, our Italian white wine which was shared by 20 guests. The feedback was terrific and we hope to have another Sassy Event in Wine Week, October 2015.
We endeavour to man the cellar door throughout the year on weekends, however to keep the discovery journey of Arneis moving forward, we plan to return to Piedmonte for more investigation into the making of a bubbly Arneis. This will complete the journey from bubbly, to elegant table wine, to a Late Harvest desert wine. So, the cellar door will be closed in May 2015, reopening on the first weekend in June 2015.
We look to having a function for each of the white and red wine releases, at the vineyard, later in the year.
Also available in the cellar door is the "Fibre Wall", displaying a selection of delightful handcrafted hand woven, spun or felted scarves, making for the perfect gift. Polwarth wool from our sheep have been used in some of the items displayed.
